Author of "Ragtime" (for which he won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction in 1975), "Billy Bathgate" (for which he won the William Dean Howells Medal in 1990) and "The March" (for which he won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction in 2005 and the PEN/Faulkner Award in 2006)
Awarded the Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction in 2014
