Henry Prize Stories Award in 1949), "The Haunting of Hill House" (for which she was nominated for the National Book Award for Fiction in 1960) and "Louisa, Please Come Home" (for which she won the Mystery Writers of America Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Short Story in 1961)
