Happy Birthday Robert Louis Stevenson

Today's microblog celebrates the birthday of the famous writer, Robert Louis Stevenson. He was born on November 13, 1850 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Always a sickly child, Robert wrote stories throughout his childhood and actually his first piece at 16. His health problems continued through his adult years and at 28, he had his teeth pulled and replaced with a wooden set. RLS wrote some of out favorite stories including Treasure Island, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Kidnapped and included in our collection, A Child's Garden of Verses! Stevenson died of a stroke at the age of 44 in Samoa.

Fun fact: He came up with an early idea for a sleeping bag!
